my pto handle will stay engaged

Your handle will stay engaged then heck my job is done!  IF it won't stay engaged then you need to check  the detent balls and the springs. There are two plugs on the side of the valve. Remove the plugs, and see if the springs are broke. You might have to take off the valve and look to see if where the balls go is not worn. This taking in account that your pto is not slipping. Follow-up if you have any problems.
