Tractor Repair: kubota b 7300 oil leak, tranmission, engine oil

Question
Why is  engine oil leaking out of my starter on my b7300?

Answer
If you have engine oil leaking from around the starter. The tractor will need to be spilt to diagnose.
It could be an oil galley plug leaking, rear main seal leaking or the front seal leaking on the tranmission.
The clutch or flywheel will sling the oil and make it hard to pinpoint where the oil is coming from.
When the tractor is split lower the rear of the engine and the front of the transmission and note where the oil is coning from.
Make sure both are filled to the full mark with the proper oil.
All the oil coming from this area will look black because of the clutch dust.
How many hours does the tractor have?
Have you noticed a drop in either Hyd. oil or engine oil?
