Tractor Repair: ford 2000- 63-64 gas, diesel mechanic, sand paper

Question
Well trying to start my ford 2000, I changed the syliniod and recharged the battery. It turns over but will not fire up and run. I smell gas when I choke it, I waited a day and tried again thinking I flooded it,nothing again. I cleaned the plugs and distributor with sand paper on the contacts, still nothing.My grass is growing as we speak, what could it be? Kurt

im more of a diesel mechanic to be honest. have you got a spark at the plugs you can check by removing them put the cable back on them and touch them off a clean part of the engine(to earth the plug) while turning the engine over you should be able to see a spark
