Tractor Repair: Case IH 3220 shuttle shift, drive shaft, snap ring

Question
QUESTION: How do I remove the final parts of shuttle shift ? Have it split in two, can not get parts out hole , engine side. It is Case IH 3220 tractor.

ANSWER: I think i am a little confused there should not be anything on the engine side except the clutch and flywheel. On the other side that is a different story. I need a little bit more information to help like what are you trying to get out the shift pack? Let me know so I can help more.

QUESTION: We are having trouble getting the shuttle-shift parts out that are in the first compartment.  The tractor does not back up.  The problem is supposed to be a cracked aluminum piston.  Here is a photo of the parts we want out.  We tried forcing the parts out the hole towards (the clutch??). But everything seems to be fastened to (maybe the drive shaft).  We are not sure what is holding it in.

Thanks!

Answer
I have to say I have pondered this question for a number of days and I just can't remember if there is a snap ring or lube tubes in the distributor that is keeping the pack in the housing.I hate to say that you might have to call the dealer or ask another expert. I just can't remember and can't get a good answer from my local guy. That shaft has to come out of the inside of the pack before it will come out.
