Tractor Repair: 1066 no steering, weather issues, hydraulic pumps

Question
Hi Arnie,
On a bitter cold morning -10 I started my tractor and let it warm up for 45-60 minutes.when I climbed in and started to pull out of shed, it first hesitated to move then moved forward however I have no steering and the brakes work but they won't push your foot up?I've owned this tractor for years and has always been reliable in the winter.I changed the hydraulic filter and the old one was visibly clean no metal or filth I did put heat (lo level) under tractor and no luck. This is a 1974 1066 like I said I've never had cold weather issues before and I hayed with it 3 day's ago and everything was fine.
  Thankyou!

Answer
Hello,

Do the hitch, pto, and remotes work?  The steering, brakes, and TA get oil from the front pump inside the multiple control valve on the left side of the speed transmission.  The hitch and remotes get their oil from the rear pump in front of the left rear axle.  The pto has its own pump.  If only the steering, TA, and brakes don't work, then the front pump may have failed or there is a problem in the multiple control valve (blown gasket?)  If nothing works, then the shaft that drives the hydraulic pumps and pto may have stripped splines, or the drive hub may have broken loose from the pressure plate.
