Tractor Repair: Remove air from injector lines Ford 1210 Diesel, injector lines, mechanical knowledge

Question
When the fuel filter was changed the fuel lines drained out.  Owners manual says to bleed lines, but doesn't show or explain how to do this.  I have a helper to do this, fairly good mechanical knowledge, but no diesel experience.

Answer
Hello,

First, bleed the filter by loosening the bleeder screw on the filter base.  If it doesn't have one, loosen the fitting on the fuel line that goes from the filter to the injection pump and let it leak until fuel with no bubbles or foam comes out.  If it still won't start, loosen the fuel lines at all the injectors and crank the engine over until fuel squirts out at each one, then tighten them back up and it should start.
