Tractor Repair: Massey 65 PTO, massey 65, clutch pedal

Massey 65 PTO will not engage while the engine is running and it sounds like metal grinding.  You can engage when the motor is off.  What is the problem and how do I fix it?

  The pto clutch is not disengaging.  There is either something wrong with the pto clutch, or it needs adjustment.  First adjust the clutch pedal linkage so the pedal has about an inch and a half of free travel.  Then working through the hole in the bottom of the bell housing, adjust the pto clutch stop bolts on the pressure plate until they have .060 in. clearance.
