Tractor Repair: case 885xl 1991, diesel pump, full stream

Question
hi
i asked a question about diesel in engine oil before.  got that sorted was fuel pump thanks.

another problem:
when tractor is going up hill it dies down alot.  if you have near full revs on 24 on the clock, it will die to 20.  (pulling nothing)  what would be causing this.  the diesel pump was overehauled as this was causing the first problem.

thanks

Answer
Hello,

There could be a couple of things.  Make sure there is good fuel flow from the tank.  The fuel line must run full stream, not just a little dribble.  Restriction where the fuel comes out of the tank is a common problem.  Dirt and debris plug up the fitting on the bottom of the tank.  The fuel and air filters must be clean and the injection timing must be correct.  If this problem just started after having the pump rebuilt, then something went wrong during the rebuilding process.
