Tractor Repair: IH 806/D361 engine oil pressure, engine oil pressure, pressure relief valve

Question
I have just overhauled an 806 with a D361. I bought it locked up because of rod bearing issues. Now after the overhaul i have 25 psi cold at a high idle. I have checked clearances everywhere and everything is OK. The serial# on this tractor is 4000 and the engine is 20000. I was wondering if there was ever a difference in hydraulic pumps on these tractors. Or if their was ever any larger flow pump for this tractor. The CASE IH website has no info in the tractors this early in production. Thanks

Answer
Hello,

25 psi cold does seem low for that engine.  You may want to try another gauge just to be sure.  If all bearing clearances are correct, The oil pump and oil pressure relief valve should be checked.  You can look up parts for any Case or IH machine at caseih.com.  Select parts and service at the top of the page, then enter 806 in the model search.   In the hydraulic section it lists either a 12 or a 17 gallon pump for an 806.
