Tractor Repair: torque amplifier, torque amplifier, logical reason

Question
hello,I recently purchased a 1955 Int. 300.The torque amplifier handle is missing I dont know if the amplifier works or not.Is There any way to check and see if it works before I buy a handle.

Answer
If the rest of the linkage is still there you could try to operate it with a pry bar or something.  There's no other way to know than to operate it and try it.  There is only one reason that the handles are usually removed from these tractors, and that's because the TA probably doesn't work.  There wouldn't be a logical reason to remove it otherwise.  What did the previous owner say about the handle missing?  I used to work for a guy that sold used tractors, and we had a big pile of levers out behind the storage shed that he took off tractors with a bad TA before he tried to sell them.  He figured that if the lever wasn't there, some people wouldn't even realize that it had a TA so it would be easier to sell than if they knew it had something that didn't work.
