Tractor Repair: 1370 case, neutral switches, clutch adjustment

i bought a case 1370 1972 the seller said the ckutch needs adj it will not start with the key he starts with a screwdriver jumping across the starter he said all it needs is to adj the clutch so the key will start it is this true and how and where do you adj the linkage   thanks

  The clutch adjustment has nothing to do with it.  It is the safety start switch or switches that need adjustment or repair.  There are a couple different electrical systems on this model depending on the serial number.  Earlier units had a switch activated by the clutch pedal and the switch could be screwed in or out to adjust it so the pedal will push the switch in far enough to activate it when the pedal is all the way down.  Later units had 2 neutral switches on the right side of the range transmission that could be shimmed so that it would start in neutral, but not in any gear.
