Tractor Repair: Ford 9N lower right 3 point hitch attachment leak, hydraulic fluid leaks, ford 9n

Question
QUESTION: As it attaches to the body of the rear end, with a small plate secured by a bolt, and where the ball joint from the hitch captures a protruding threaded pin secured by a pinned nut, hydraulic fluid leaks profusely.  The afore mentioned bolt and  threaded pin turn freely and can not be tightened or removed.  Otherwise, The hydraulic system continues to work properly.  How do I tighten this plate on the side of the rear end to stop this leak?

ANSWER: Hello,

The rear axle housing will have to be removed from the rear frame to gain access to the inner nuts.  There is a gasket under the plate that should be replaced also.

         Good luck,

QUESTION: Arnie, again thank you for your quick response.  But, I'm having no luck finding the gasket under the plate you described.  Does the plate have a name?  Also, could I access the inner nuts by removing the plate located under the rear frame?

Answer
I'm not sure what plate under the rear frame you are referring to.  The only thing I can think of might be a drawbar bracket.  The only way I know of is to remove the rear axle housing, if we're talking about same thing and I did not misunderstand where the leak is.  To see a picture of how it's put together, got to servicemotor.com, click on parts, then online parts lookup, then select New Holland from the brand list.  In the model search box, type in 9N and then click search.  Click 9N tractor from the search results.  Then select rear axle, and it will show an exploded view with the parts list and part numbers at the bottom.  It shows a gasket between the plate that is leaking and the rear axle housing, as well as the internal nuts.
