Tractor Repair: New Holland 1725 Tractor, blown fuse, key switch

Question
My tractor was running fine when it suddenly quit running. The fuel tank is full, it will turn over fine, no fuses are blown, cannot find any kill switches loose. I tried pulling it off to see if maybe the fuel line had air or maybe just vapor locked. Don't know what else to do. Thanks, Ricky

Answer
Hello,

Blown fuse is a common cause on these tractors, so you were looking in the right direction.  Just make sure you found all the fuses.  If there is no smoke from the exhaust while trying to start it, then it is not getting any fuel. There has to be 12 volts to the fuel shut-off solenoid with the key switch in the run position, so check the wiring and look for loose connections from the key switch up to the fuel solenoid.  If there is power and the solenoid is good, it should click.  If everything checks out OK electrically, then check the fuel filter and also the fuel flow from the tank.  If that is OK, then loosen the injection line fittings on the injectors and crank the engine to see if you can get fuel to the injectors.  If there is air in the system, this will bleed it out also.  If fuel gets up to the injectors after cranking awhile, then tighten the fittings again and it should start right up.  If you still can't get fuel to the injectors, then possibly the governor has failed.

                     Good luck,
