Tractor Repair: Case 440 Distributor, distributor shaft, distributor cap

We bought a an old Case 440, it was running great until the distributor shaft pin sheared. It seems every 5 hours it is running it either breaks a spring within the distributor or shears the pin, even though it is running great up to that. Can you help me out?  Josh

  Hello,

  Make sure the rotor is not hitting the contacts under the distributor cap.  Sometimes the dust cover is missing, and the distributor cap sits too low, or sometimes someone has put on the wrong rotor.  The distributor shaft and bushings could be worn.  You might need to replace the distributor.
