Tractor Repair: Ford 3000 diesel wont start, ford 3000, shut off valve

Question
The tractor will not start. It turns over fine. The injectors were taken out and tested and found to be ok. What should I check next?
Thanks,
Robert

Answer
  Hello,

First check the flow of fuel from the tank.  The shut off valve under the tank has a habit of plugging with crud.  Make sure the filters are clean and the air is all bled out of the system.  Loosen all the injection lines at the injectors and crank the engine to see if you can get any fuel to come out.  If you can't get any fuel to the injectors, and if you have an inline injection pump, the control rack in the pump is probably stuck.
