Tractor Repair: kubota tractor, crankshaft seal, disc clutch

Question
I  recently pulled  this tractor apart and am gonna put in a new disc clutch and throw out bearing, was wondering is there a way to test the pressure plate ? to see if it will do the job or just buy a new one ?

Answer
 Hello,

Always replace everything when doing a clutch job.  It isn't worth trying to save money by re-using any old parts because of the risk of an unsatisfactory repair when you're done.  There is no test that can determine if the pressure plate is good, other than by appearance, and that can fool you.  To get the best results and avoid having to do the job twice, replace the disc, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, and pilot bearing, and have the flywheel resurfaced to make sure it is absolutely flat.  While the tractor is split, it's a good opportunity to replace the rear crankshaft seal and transmission seals even if they're not leaking because you've already done all the labor to get at them and with the age of the tractor, they may start to leak in the near future.
