How do I determent if its the coil or condenser that is problem. The points don't have a constant spark.

  Hello,

   Lots of repair shops have a machine to test coils to see if they are good or not.  Points and condenser are pretty inexpensive to replace, so I would try replacing them first before suspecting the coil.  Make sure the points are clean and gapped correctly at .020 inch.  The spark from the coil is controlled by the points and condenser, not the other way around, so the coil should not affect the spark at the points.  But the points and condenser definitely have an affect on the coil.
