Tractor Repair: 2 stage clutch follow up, speed transfer case, hydrostatic transmissions

Question
Hi,I had just entered a question about the two stage clutch found on a Ford  1910....
I know I didn't give any info about the tractor.
So if it matters,here goes...
This model has no power steering,it is a 4x2 version (2 wheel drive).
It does not have the fancy transmission.. I forget what it's called..
I believe it to be just a 4 speed...with live PTO,and 3 point hitch.
I do not know if it has a multi speed transfer case.
The daughter of the deceased owner is selling it.
With many implements.
She can't answer many of my questions about the tractor.
I will be going to see the tractor this wkend.
 Thanks again for your time....

Answer
   Hello again,

Sounds like a very good unit, as long as it has been well maintained.  You can usually tell by the appearance how well cared for it has been.  If it looks good on the outside, it's usually good on the inside because the owner took pride in it and maintained it.  If it looks rough on the outside, it probably didn't get much maintenance either.

Not having the fancy transmission is sometimes a good thing.  The simpler the better, with less things to go wrong.  Hydrostatic transmissions are nice, but if anything goes wrong, you're looking at $$$$ to fix.  If it comes with implements, you've got a good thing going and you'll be all set.  Like I said in my answer to your other question, a 1910 is a good machine.  If I could afford one, I would definitely buy it.  But I already have the '49 Co-op E3.

               Take care,
