Tractor Repair: long deisal, breather element, compression test

Question
i have a long deisal tractor that when it warms up it is shootind engine oil out of the blow by pipe. any ideas what this maybe. thanks aaron

Answer

  Hello,

If the engine is blowing oil out of the breather, there is excessive blow by, caused by worn rings and cylinders, or a cracked or burnt piston.  Do a compression test to see which cylinders are bad.  Check the condition of the breather element if it has one.
