Tractor Repair: Ford 4000 wont move, wont move, clutches

I have a ford 4000 gas that won't move and the pto will not work. any ideas what may cause this I hear these tractors are known for this problem.

4000 wont move --do you mean that the engine is not running? Or that it’s stuck in gear?
I have a 4000 diesel for some years but have not had this problem! May be i have been lucky.
PTO -- is the PTO lever stuck? Can you move it at all can you rotate the shaft at the rear by hand (engine off) is this a live drive version with 2 clutches?
If the engine is running can you engage a gear? If you get a lot of gear crunching, it could be that the clutches are shot, Sorry but you have not given me much to go on.
