hi, i have a case international 895 1991 and hand brake stopped working,i checked thinking it was a bust cable but it seems its a rod turning a lever which disappears into top of gear box could you advice if this can be repaired easily from top plate or is it outwith diy

Do you have a manual?
Always a good point to start.
Also DOES THE FOOT BRAKE STILL WORK?  As these usually both work off the same brake shoes, if they do then it would seem that it is a matter of the faulty linkage that you mention. I do not have a copy of this manual so can only imagine were the brakes are. They could be inboard discs or wheel drum brakes? But as the rod disappears into the top cover they must be inboard discs! If you can move the hand brake rod by hand –is there any resistance if not it is probably a disconnected or broken connection.
