Tractor Repair: Lawn Tractor, pickup coil, magnetic pickup

I was riding my lawn tractor and then it backfired. Now, the engine will not crank. It sometime barley turns over just for a second. Do I have problem with electro magnetic pickup coil that goes to the spark plug?

If it will not crank then you have a problem with the battery / starting system --- the pickup coil would not prevent the unit from turing over . --- pull a spark plug and try to crank --- If it does not crank then your problem in in the engine not the starting system.
