Question -
I have 1975 massey ferguson 235,It recently over heated.I had radiator repaired.when it over heated, the oil pressure dropped to zero.there was A knock.the knocking starts when the engine gets warm.

Answer -
Ken it sounds like the big end berings are a little worn due to lack of lubrification when you over heated it you may find that the big ends have started to pick up on the crank shaft.
Drop the sump off now and you may get away with just replacing the slippers but if you keep using it you may need to rebuild the whole engine a costly job Ken have a look at the big ends and let me know what you find matey.

What do you mean by dropping the sump off,and replacing the slippers thank ken.

Answer
Ken the sump is the bottom of the engine obtain a workshop manual and it will help you with what I mean the slippers are in the end of the conrod that connects to the crankshaft this area has a larger gap than what is allowed causing pressure to drop after the engine warms up.
As I said Ken get a workshop manual and it will give you a step by step procedure on how to do it matey.
In the US you have a company that can supply you a workshop manual it is not the MF one but it will do the job it is a I.T manual form Bare &Co the web address is http://www.bareco.com.au/ from here you should be able to get on to them.
