my old ford will run fine for 5-10 minutes then it is like the governor is shutting it down. i have checked and cleaned all filters. you can watch the governor control arm slowly close up to where the engine just dies. I have a ford manual and have done everything it says to trouble shoot carb anfd governor system . Please hep.

Ed have a look at the bushes on the butterfly as if they are worn it will do a similar thing to what you say.
Grab hold of the shaft that goes through the carbie and see if you can rock it up and down or side ways. If you can this may be the problem fit new bushes and butterfly shaft and all should be well.
