Tractor Repair: John Deere, internal combustion engine, john deere 212

Question
I have a John Deere 212 that will not start. I was mowing when the engine died. It will turn over like it is going to start but it will not start. I was wondering if you could help me. I have almost no experience working on tractors but I know that it has gas. thanks a lot.

Are you familiar with the operation of an internal combustion engine? -- If so a engine that runs on gas - requires a spark ignition of the fuel source. -- Pull a spark - leave it hooked up to the wire - ground the body and turn the engine over --- watch for a spark -
