Tractor Repair: Craftsman lawn tractor, craftsman lawn tractor, clutch cable

Question
I replaced the spindle and brake arm, also the cable that engages the deck. Now the mower will start when I depress the brake/clutch pedal, but when I take my foot off the pedal it kills the engine. Any ideas as to why this is happening and what I can do to correct it. I live in Tennessee and the mower ran fine until the spindle and brake arm broke, the kit/clutch cable was extremely stretched out due to the spindle getting ready to go.

Sherry if the spindle turned when you fitted it and the blade that part is ok.
When you fitted the brake and cable did you adjust the brake as when you engage the deck the brake should release have a look at the adjustments this may be the problem.
