Tractor Repair: Ford New Holland 1715 Diesel- no drive power, ford new holland, hole auger

Question
A friend borrowed my (1996 FWD) tractor, used the PTO (first time PTO used) with a post hole auger. I now have no drive to the wheels - will only "crawl" in lower gears, nothing in mid or high range. PTO seems to engage/disengage, hydraulics seem OK (bucket and gannon lift OK), clutch "seems" OK (otherwise it wouldn't even "crawl" in low gear?).
I do have some friends with some mechanical expertise if we had an idea of where to start looking to rule out some obvious problems (actually, I'm hoping it's something simple we've overlooked that won't be financially devastating to fix).
Thank you.

Answer
Patti it could be that the transmission is locked in low low gear the best way to check if it is not a clutch problem is to put your foot on the brake and see if the engine dies down after you apply the foot break if the engine dies all is ok it seems.
And it then is a gear issue the range lever could be in a bad position check all items.

If all else fails look at changing the gear ratio and then it all should work ok if no get the local dealer in to look at it.

This is about all I can say as you are there i am lost because I cannot touch and feel my way a.
