Tractor Repair: riding mower wont crank, briggs and stratton, briggs and stratton engines

Question
New battery was put on and starter gear engages main gear,...then battery cables get hot and when i try to turn the key off it wont stop trying to crank. I even took the spark plug wire off and it still tried to crank on its on but it cant seem to crank. I cleaned the air filter and still seem to be stuck. Do you have an idea of what may be wrong ?

David first thing take the spark plug leed off and take the main battery leed off ok.
Then get under the engine where the pulleys are and try to turn the one on the bottom of the engine if you can not turn it forward or back then it seems the engine is seized.
David tell me some of what has happened with this machine a story can help me greatly matey.
If the engine does turn by hane the hook the leeds back up some times the starter bendix gear jams this happens a lot on Briggs and Stratton engines let me know how you go.
