Tractor Repair: ford tractor hyd., ford 3000 tractor, hydrulics

Question
hi danny, i have a ford 3000 tractor, im having problems with the hydrulics, sometimes it will lift and sometimes it wont lift, i have bled the pump and checked the oil level. it just seems like it has a mind of its own, if it going to lift it will if not it wont. also i dont know the year of the beast but here are the model no.21023c and the serial no. 254442. if you can shed some light on this hyd. problem it would be great. i thought the serial no. might help you figure out the year it was manufactured. thanks

Answer
Rodney I am sorry I can not help you with working out the year model as it ran for a number of years.

With the hydraulic problem it sounds like a leaky Oring on the suction side of the pump or a loose clamp on the line
this allows at times to suck air instaed of oil and other times it will suck oil.
So replace the Orings tighten all fittings and clamps and let me know how you go.
