Tractor Repair: Help with the fuel system of an International TD-9 Dozer, diesel engines, northwestern ontario

Question
I am from northwestern Ontario and I have an International TD-9 Dozer.  The engine starts on gasoline and then switches to diesel.  IT runs very well on gasoline but when it switches to diesel it misses until the engine warms up. It will run on 1 or 2 cylinders until the engine is warm and then it will run fine.  I am wondering if it is either...

-The injectors
-The compression
or -The fuel pump?

Can you please help me with some explanation of what my problem could be and some advice on how to correct it.

Answer
Pete im not an expert on this model machine but if it runs fine when it warms up tells me it is a little low on comprestion as most of the older diesel engines are has it always done this.
Please drop me a line and let me know how you get on with it.
