Tractor Repair: 3000 ford tractor, auto electrician, ford tractor

Question
Wouldn't start. I installed new wires, plugs, cap, rotor, points, condensor. Plugs are champion c5n. I think the main problem was cap corrosion and bad wires, also points were burned up. It finally did start and run pretty well. The problem is  it still starts too hard. Could you tell what to set gap at on points and plugs? They are currently set at, Points .025 and Plugs at.040. The old plugs actually looked pretty good and were gapped at .040 Could it possibly a weak coil? How can I check? Actually the coil is the only thing I haven't replaced.  Thanks,Ken

Answer
Ken i'm not sure where you are in the world but what fuel are you using as in Australia we now only have lead free replacment or unleaded if these fuels are left for long periodes they go off.
I suggest you change the fuel and clean the carbie bowl out and make the adjustments needed withe specifications below.
plugs .023" - .027"
breaker points .025"
valve clearance inlet.015" exhaust .018"
you would need to take the coil to an auto electrician to test it for you Ken hope this helps matey.
