Tractor Repair: I am restoring a MF 168 1976...., pto shaft, hometown aol

Question
I am restoring a MF 168 1976. I am putting in a new clutch. I am having problems putting in two new seal on the shafts between the clutch and the gear box. I'm unable to take out the shaft because the bottom cog it is in the way. Do I have to take out the lift pump and PTO shaft which would let me pull back the bottom cog and allow me to take out the top shaft between the clutch and the gearbox? If I don't put in these seals the gear oil will start wetting the clutch.
Is there another way around this?

Thanks for all you help,
Vinny

Answer
Vinny as far as I can remember it has been along time since I have had a gearbox apart I think you will need to remove the top shaft fromthe top of the gearbox but the best person to talk to would be Big Dean on the the big Dan web site he has all MF experiance

Vinny hope this will help you as my memory is cloudy on this subject.
