Tractor Repair: water in oil, case tractors, head gasket

Question
I have a 310 case dozer with a diesel engine which is getting coolant in the oil where should I start to look for the cause, it starts runs does not miss and does not over heat

Answer
I am not real familiar with the engine used in the case tractors but if you have an oil cooler that is a good place to start I have found it to be rare that coolant getting in the crankcase will come past the rings from a head gasket but they will sometime have a leak between a coolant port & an oil port. in the head gasket. if those engines have wet sleeves it may be a sleeve seal. the worst is a cracked block Hope some of this helps Big Dean
