Tractor Repair: Massey Ferguson 231 Differential lock, massey ferguson, differential lock

Question
The differential lock pedal is only about 2" from the running board. When pushing down on it it contacts the running board and will not return.  The clutch and steering back and forth will  not release it.  I do not think that the lock is engaged.  Is this a serious problem to fix?  How do I go about fixing it?

Answer
Dave hi im Danny your model MF we do not get it here in Australia have not herd of it but usually the diff lock system is pretty well the same in most tractors on 135 or 240/250 MF we get here the lever can stick because of rust on the shaft you can spray some wd40 or rp7 spray around the lever which should losen it.
Dave if the tractor turns corners ok and does not want to drive straight a head when turning corners this usually meens diff lock is not engaged .

Hope this helps with your problem also in what way are you using the diff lock for what job could you please advise me.
