Triumph Repair: TR6 brake master cylinder leak

Question
Hi Howard:

I noticed recently that the fluid in my 1976 TR6 master brake cylinder (front compartment)is low after the car has been sitting for 6 months.  I looked things over and fluid is running down the front of the servo below the master brake cylinder.  Does this symptom usually point to a problem with the servo or the master cylinder?  Look forward to your suggestions.

Thanks,

John Kemp

Answer
Hi John.

Yes that is an indication of the seals leaking in the master cylinder. But do check to see that a brake line is not leaking first. When you pull the master cylinder off you need to check to see if any of the brake fluid has migrated into the booster if the seals are leaking.
