Triumph Repair: Buzzer, alarm buzzer, spitfire

Question
I have a 74 Spitfire that the warning/alarm buzzer sounds even when the key is removed from the ignition, draining the battery.  My guess is a problem in the ignition switch.  Could it be anything else?

Answer
Hi Dennis,

The buzzer can not operate unless the ignition switch grounds it. It does have several different possible power supplies but still can't operate unless the ignition switch grounds it.

On some BLM cars it was an external connection on the side of the ignition switch. Look on the side of the ignition switch to see if there is an external flat spade connector on the side of the switch itself and while the buzzer is sounding disconnect that single flat spade connector (if it is there) to see if that turns off the buzzer. If not you may need to either disable the buzzer or replace the switch.
