Triumph Repair: Door lock to Door Latch, triumph spitfire 1500, cotter pin

Question
QUESTION: I was curious if there anything special about the cotter pin used in the door lock assembly that would keep it from sliding off the locking mechanisum on the Door latch.. This is for a Triumph Spitfire 1500 1973.

Thanks

ANSWER: Hi Steven,

You will have to give me more info as I don't know of any cotter pins used in the door lock/latch area. Take a picture of what you are referring to.

QUESTION: Sorry.. It Looks like a cotter pin. It creates the like between the Door handle lock and the Door latch.. It slides through the pressure fitting on the door handle lock.

I tried connecting it as you see but make the whole assembly really stiff.. Just want to make sure it is in the right location.

Thanks

Answer
If that vertical pin going through the double spring clip is what locks and unlocks the door you need to lube it to see if it works. As I remember the spring clip is to hold tension on the pin but dry holds too well. Been a long time since I was in those doors.
