Triumph Repair: fuel problem with 1974 tr6, owner states, hi ed

I recently purchased a 1974 TR6, It was not running, the previous
owner  thought it might have a fuel line blockage. I checked , from tank to fuel pump, cleaned fuel pump and have fuel to carbs. Motor will start with choke open, runs at high idle, and dies when choke is closed, will only restart with choke open.Any ideas on which way to jump? Also, prvious owner states that he had just rebuilt carbs.

Hi Ed,

If it runs on choke only and even if it warms up a little and still only runs on choke only you for sure need to go into the carburetors as there is something drastically wrong with them and you won't know until you open them up. You should get a manual before you start and then if you run into anything that the manual does not make clear or you don't understand contact me and I will try to help.
