Triumph Repair: TR7 anit-run-on valve gas leak, charcoal canister, vent hose

Question
Hi Howard,
Gas leaks from the anti-run-on valve when the engine is shut off, the car has sat for years so that may have something to do with it. Any ideas what could cause this?
Thanks.
Mark

Answer
Hi Mark,
The anti-run on valve cuts off the venting of the float chamber to shut the engine down. So if fuel is in that valve it most likely came from a flooding float chamber.

However, that valve is also connected to the charcoal canister so just to be safe, you need to check the vent hose from the gas tank going into the canister. To be sure that the tank was not over filled and caused the canister to be saturated with fuel also.
