Hi Mike,
Look for a small hole in the side of the knob and use a pin punch that fits in the hole and just insert the pin punch (or such) and push in while pulling on the knob. If you find the hole but don't feel the bottom of the hole springy then take a light and look in the hole to see if it is a set screw.

I don't have one to look at and can't remember which way they came off but that was the only two ways I ever seen any of the Lucas switch knobs come off.
