Triumph Repair: What th heck is it?, spitfire restoration, spitfire 1500

May I take this opportunity to thank you for your last reply to a question I had. (A belated Thank You!)

Like that expected of a bad surgeon, I too have a part LEFT OVER that evades my investigative skills to identify.  I have combed the vehicle from one end to the other to find it's rightful home. I have perused the catalogs.  All, to no avail.  

I know the part belongs to this 74' Spitfire 1500, as it has small flecks of the original color of the car, on it.  So, if you would be so kind as to take a look at the image.  With your experience, maybe you have run across this part and can solve this case.

Hi George,
You got me!! I don't remember seeing that piece of metal anywhere. It will probably take a Spitfire restoration specialist to ID that one.
