Triumph Repair: 1970 triumph spitfire, amp fuse, fuse holders

Question
QUESTION: I have just got my ride on the road again and my blinkers hazards and windshield wipers don't work may this just be a fuse?

ANSWER: Hi Shaun,
That is a good place to start, it is a common problem on older British cars. The fuse holders need to be scraped and cleaned often. If that is not the problem you need to start tracing circuits with a test light and your wiring diagram. If you don't have a diagram, let me know and I will put one on my web site for you to copy.

ANSWER: Hi Shaun,
I used 30 to 35 amp in all locations except the in-line fuse to the radio. You did mean 32 amp not volts, right?

QUESTION: Yes 30 amp but the lower fuse is smaller and a 14 maybe the radio. I don't have a wiring diagram yet my stop lights wipers temp gauge are all working now.   No blinkers or hazards  and I know the prior owner removed the reverse light as well as lower stop lights.   Maybe reducing hazards is my guess. Other than the blinkers hazards what may be the best options to reduce overheating I enjoy drivin hard thanks, shaun

Answer
If your car has an alternator then you should have 3 fuses and all 3 are 35 amp. The radios were added by the dealer and they usually had there own low amp fuse in a In-line fuse holder close to the radio.
