ANSWER: Hi Nick,
You should be able to use the Spitfire transmission. If not you will need a Midget drive shaft and take it to a drive shaft company and have one made out the the two. Spitfire rear and Midget front. first measure the distance from the back of the transmission shaft to the differential flange so the drive shaft company can make it correctly. It is an easy repair for a drive shaft company to do and probably not expensive.

QUESTION: thank you for the help. the only reason i cant use my transmission is the midget engine is a 69 and my car is a 76 spitfire and the midget trans is smaller. so im not sure if i can use my trans in any way.

Answer
I see, the Midget didn't use the Spitfire engine and transmission until 75. So you are putting a Austin 1275cc engine in your Spitfire with the MG trans. You will need to locate a Midget drive shaft to get the front splined yoke and then find a local shop that makes drive shafts. Every city has one or more. If you have trouble locating one find a shop that has a stock car or any race car and they can usually point you to a shop that builds drive shafts. Take your old drive shaft and the measurement from the tail shaft to the rear diff. flange. Easy fix.
