Triumph Repair: Seat rails, surface rust, seat rails

Question
I'm installing new carpet in my 1965 Spitfire and found the seat rails to be rusty.  I eliminated the surface rust on the floor pan and bought new rails from Rimmer.  The rails are what the seat assembly slides on and they are removed from the car along with the seat assembly.  The problem is I can't seem to remove the old rails from the seat assembly.  There seems to be a spring that only lets the rails slide so far.  If that spring was not there the rails would slide off.  Any advice?

Thanks

Jeff

Answer
Hi Jeff,
I don't remember ever removing the rails off of a 65 but I believe they are only held to the seat frame by two bolts on each rail like all the other British cars. Look at the new rails and you should see if there are more than just two holes on each rail.
