Triumph Repair: bond equipe, color conventions, starter solenoid

Question
i have a 1965 bond equipe which will not start off the ignition switch but will start off the solonoid providing the ignnition switch is in the run position! was just wondering if you had any suggestions on curing the problem

Answer
Steve,

If they followed the standard british wiring color conventions when the car was built you should have both a white/red wire and white wire off the back of the key switch.   The white/red triggers the starter solenoid and the white is power to the coil.

Sounds like an open in the white/red wire from switch to solenoid.

Cheers,

Jim
