Triumph Repair: SuHS6 vs Stromberg 175 or webber downdraft, constant velocity, strombergs

Question
Hi, I was wondering what will be the best carb choice to mount on a 1976  TR6 with original Stromberg 175, or the SuHS6, or Webber with downdraft?

Answer
Hi Eric,
It depends what you are looking for in performance. If you are wanting high performance and you are comparing the three carburetor sets of the SAME bore size, In my opinion the SUs will out perform the Strombergs by a small amount and out perform the down draft Weber by a long shot.

Weber makes fine fixed jet carburetors but no fixed jet carburetors can compete with the constant velocity carburetors like SUs or Strombergs. No down draft will match a side draft on a side ported head engine like a Triumph.

If you are not looking for high performance and want a easy going carb that requires less adjustment then I would go for the down draft Weber system.
