Triumph Repair: flasher wiring, turn signal switch, watt bulbs

Question
Hi Howard,
I'm going mad with my triumph GT6 mk 3 1971, look for trouble in the flasher wiring. Warning operate well, Left side flashers also operate well, but right side are always lighted (no flash when ). When I start engine, it's a little bit better, right side blinks for a while then slow down and finaly stay fix (lighted)
Could you help please?

Answer
Hi Herve,
If the left lights work correctly then the problem has to be in the turn signal switch, the wiring from the switch to the lights or the bulbs or bulb sockets.

Keep in mind that the flasher unit works on resistance. If there is too much resistance the flash is extended in time, if there is low resistance the flash is speeded up. Your problem indicates high resistance. Low WATT bulbs, poor connection on power wires or ground wires. poor connection in the switch itself or poor connections in the bulb sockets.
