Triumph Repair: Transmission comes out of first gear, shift kit, synchro

Hi Jim, I recently had a shop rebuild my transmission and install a shift kit. I've had to take it back to them so many times they had it for a full summer. It is better now but I still have some trouble down shifting into second unless I'm almost to a stop. When I'm in  first gear, if I let of the gas when in first gear it pops out of gear into netural. Any ideas why it comes out of first gear?

Not sure why you're bothering with a shift kit.   The Triumph transmissions are not racing units.

And if it's popping out of 1st when you let off the gas either the synchro is bad or the springs on the gear carrier are knackered.  Sounds like the shop didn't know what they were doing.

So.. what car (year/model) are we talking about?
