Answer
Frederick,

The best tool I've found for removing/installing new suspension bushings on the Spitfire is a 3/8" diameter bolt about 4" long, with some extra washers.   That and a 13/16" socket.

With the suspension arm off the car, put the bolt though the bushing and through the socket.  Pull the bushing into the socket.   If you use a piece of all thread instead of a bolt then you won't need to keep adding spacers to the bolt as you pull the bushing out.

To install the new bushings, use the bolt to pull the new bushing into the suspension arm.   Use some soapy water or armor all to lube the bushing as you install it, it'll make the job easier.

Cheers,

Jim
