Triumph Repair: Valves, valve lapping compound, upper collar

Question
Back again. 1970 GT6+, rebuilding the head.  I had all the valves and valve springs set up in the proper order of removal, but a co worker mixed them up.  So now I do not know the order of spring installation.  I have new springs, but the spacers are what I am having trouble finding out.  If you can find a diagram or instruction I would greatly appreciate it.

Answer
Hi Justin,
If the valves were mixed up too, you need to use valve lapping compound and lap the valves into the seat again as you can't mix the valves.
As for the springs and spacers both intake and exhaust get a lower spring seat. (a two step washer)
The inner and outer springs are the same on the intake and exhaust. The plain upper collar goes on the intake valve and two keepers. (some books call them valve cotters) THESE MUST BE KEPT IN PAIRS AND IF THEY WERE MIXED TOGETHER THEY MUST BE DISCARDED AND NEW KEEPERS INSTALLED!!!!
The upper collar may be different and a cap goes on the valve stem on the exhaust valves only.
Look closely at the coils of the new springs to see if one end of the inner and the outer spring have more closely wound coils at one end. If so the closely wound coils go to the head.
